The National Party is calling on the Morrison government to 'pursue' increasing welfare payments, in a new intervention in the debate to raise the rate of Newstart

, are in favour of an increase to Newstart, party sources who declined to be named said the party room did not have a unified position regarding the dole. They said there was also a view that a straightforward increase to the payment was not the answer, and that if it were increased, it should be combined with some sort of check, like the cashless welfare card.

Council delegates also defied senior National MPs on Saturday to support emergency motions calling for more support for drought-stricken Victorian and New South Wales farmers. Victorian Nationals begged their party to support borrowing water from the national water holder to "ensure critical food production".

Maybe he thinks he's in line to an increase too on his Newstart allowance.

Oh boy we got the nationals onboard there's a start

More talk yak yak yak

Nationals are only pushing for Increase because they OWN INDUE P/L The CORRUPT Cashless Welfare Card and SKIM 30% FEE

Transfer the extra $10k a card from indue to recipients and the economy will be stimulated. But the LNP / IPA don't want that. They would rather people be driven to suicide with robodebts & income management cards, that will shut down small business & farmers markets. indue

Considering federal parliament has a members bar our parasites should be breathalyzed everyday

If The Nats constituency of people who live in regions and rural think Newstart isn't enough to survive on imagine what it's like for people who live in cities.

yes the welfare folks need a bigger incentive to stay on it

If we ask HillaryClinton a question about 9/11 , would it be labelled a 'conspiracy theory?'

Would Gina reinhardt (?) agree if she was only allowed to hire australian workers. I wonder. JaneCaro

Nationals MPs push party to support Australia-wide rollout of cashless card, welfare inquiryWhile they stopped short of calling for an increase to Newstart, Nationals MPs are urging their party to back an Australia-wide rollout of cashless debit cards for welfare recipients under 35 and an inquiry into the adequacy of welfare payments. auspol How on earth can you write a story on the Nationals support of the cashless welfare card without addressing the fact that the Nationals are linked to the Indue card and will make money out of it. I, an ordinary punter knows this. You should know spades more & be reporting it. Welfare is feel good tokenism and a massive under costing of capitalism.

The NBN’s ultimate broken promiseBack in 2013 when Australians were grappling with whether to support the huge investment in the National Broadband Network, the deal was sweetened by the promise of $3800 a year in benefits. As I tweeted to your reporter: 'Netflix and chill' doesnt mean what you think it means. You should really edit that reference The NBN is a joke. Driven by a corrupt incompetent Federal Government.

Public dobbing to crackdown on welfare cheats | Sky News AustraliaPublic tipsters have been ratting out their welfare-rorting friends and relatives using a hotline set up as part of a broader crackdown on welfare cheats.\n\nNew figures show more than 250 calls have been made to a hotline, designed to weed-out people cheating the system and more than 90,000 tip offs were submitted last financial year. \n\nIn one case, a worker who lied about their income by $47,000 was sentenced to jail, and another was forced to repay $14,000 in overpayments. \n If only we could do this for politicians. now do the same for tax evasion This country would be better off if the govt just gets out of people’s lives and allows the free market to determine the destiny of people’s lives. Then there wouldn’t be welfare cheats because there wouldn’t be fee govt handout money to steal.

Lambie presses government to let Newstart recipients work more hoursTasmanian senator Jacqui Lambie has put a new demand to the Morrison government in the growing debate over welfare reform. CroweDM It still wont make a difference, the system is designed to take more money as you earn more money & then because of robodebt, its not worth working at all, you only receive a debt in the end, which people are unable to pay. Thy LNP are destroying the economy on purpose CroweDM folks on welfare don't get to dictate anything CroweDM Im in Gov Housing, I need to earn $80k+ to be able to make more money than I get on a Pension, as rent increases follow your earnings & benefit rates reduce as you earn. Meaning that you work FT hours for the same amount as you get on a pension while deteriorating your health
