Rare Cancer Australia General Manager Christine Cockburn says the national genomic innovative program launched in Australia has given hope to thousands of Australians with incurable and end of stage cancer.

Her comments come as more than 23,000 cancer patients in Australia will soon have access to the world’s largest genomics initiative which will see experts create personalised treatment over the next two years for each person’s DNA, including early-stage clinical trials.“We have the ability to really drill down and see what’s making the cancer tick quickly, that is when they are first diagnosed.

She said Omico, PrOSPeCT gives people hope that the outcomes can be a little bit more equitable between the rare and advanced cancers in Australia.
