BREAKING: Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced new restrictions on travel to and from India and changes to the coronavirus vaccination rollout.

Australians older than 50 will get quicker access to a coronavirus vaccination in the wake of a national cabinet meeting that also agreed on travel restrictions from India.

“That increased demand on the Pfizer clinics to cover that whole population essentially under 50 will require an expansion in those Pfizer clinics in the states,” he said. Health Department Secretary Brendan Murphy said that, with very few exceptions, the Pfizer vaccine would be used only for people aged under 50 once all residential aged care patients were vaccinated.Professor Murphy said those over 50 should not be concerned about getting the AstraZeneca vaccine, noting they would not have the choice to get the Pfizer vaccine until later in the year.

“We will also be limiting the departure exceptions for Australians travelling to high-risk countries. Mr Morrison did not specify all countries that would be included on the government’s list of high-risk countries, but suggested it may be similar to that of the United Kingdom’s.

Oh look, another announcement.

How many arrivees who have tested Positive come from what countries? Free up the travel from COVID Safe countries and Restrict travel from those with High Infection rates. Greatest Risk. Consider pre flight quarantine options. Test and vaccinate

Totally reactive not proactive. Just get us vaccinated.

The thousands of Australians in India ‘have a right to come home’ | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Kenny says it is “disgraceful” the way some want to now ban people coming to Australia from India. \n\n“There are Australians in India, thousands of them, and they have a right to come home,” Mr Kenny said. \n\n“What sort of a country would make that harder for them?”\n\n“The whole point of quarantine is to treat everyone coming back as if they are infected”. \n\n“It shouldn't be necessary soon once the vulnerable are vaccinated, but the idea we should now discriminate against people from India is disgusting, it is paranoid”. \n\nMr Kenny said it would be an “un-Australian” response, after seeing what is taking place in India right now, to tell your fellow Aussies who are there, that they can’t come home, that they must stay there and “add to that country’s woes”. \n Unless your origin is Australia only and not a dual resident and or a dual Citizen sorry, borders are closed. Tough times, Tough decisions. Where can “Australian only citizens” buzz off to if we have a massive third wave caused by weak borders. Those in low risk countries should be able to undertake pre-fight quarantine, No Cap. How many from Vietnam or Thailand have tested positive? India is high risk and requires the highest scrutiny, proportionate to the risk. Test vaccinate and test again then fly. Chris doesn’t know whether he is Arthur or Martha.

Australians getting COVID tests in India ‘not accurate or not believable': Mark McGowan | Sky News AustraliaWestern Australia Premier Mark McGowan has declared Australia has a “problem with India” and said COVID-19 tests conducted in India for returning Australians either “aren’t accurate or aren’t believable”.\n\nIt comes after four people in hotel quarantine in Perth have tested positive for coronavirus after spending time in India prior to boarding a flight from Kuala Lumpur.\n\nWestern Australia health authorities confirmed 78 out of 79 people on the flight had been in India, sparking concerns of further infections.\n\nNational Cabinet previously agreed Australians returning from India would need to be tested before leaving the sub-continent and would also need to spend three days in an alternative location while waiting the result before boarding a flight home.\n\nMr McGowan said he is unsure whether the designated plan is occurring, but it is clearly “not working as intended”.\n\n“I don't know if it's even been implemented,” he said.\n\n“We obviously have a problem with India. Some of the tests conducted in India either aren't accurate or aren't believable and clearly that's causing some issues here.”\n U test before boarding a plane? No. So bet having test & getting on plane u stay home, don’t go out, u don’t get a taxi or use public transport 2 get 2 airport? So when u catch it , it shows up straight away? No. It’s a joke & anyone saying testing stops covid coming in is stupid I am guessing most Covid tests at airports are fake as they are so easy to replicate. To go all 1970's 'Derrr Fred'. Surely this cannot surprise any sane person.

There is an 'obligation' to support Australians stranded in COVID-stricken India, Karen Andrews saysI hope Aussies stranded & abandoned O/S are back in time to vote in the next federal election. We really must send Scott Morrison to India at once to lay his hands on all those poor COVID victims and heal them. It's the least we can do. secular Isn't there also an obligation to bring Julian Assange back home?

Australians in India ‘must be allowed to come home’: Chris Kenny | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Kenny says Australians in India “must be allowed to come home” given it is the point of having quarantine and the right which comes with having Australian citizenship.\n\nHis comments come after the Federal Government announced Australia will suspend all flights from India until at least May 15.\n\n“So many people are eager to shut the door on Indians,” Mr Kenny said.\n\n“If they want to come home whenever, they need to be able to … we must not turn our back on our citizens.”\n Why did they go to India in the first place? The guy from WA went for a wedding in India and came back positive. U go to these places u take the risk. Why should all of Australia risk our way of life for these self indulgents. Having an Australian passport is not a get out of trouble overseas card. Why import this rampant virus from India of all places….
