Nadia Bokody: What happened when I wore a ‘naked’ romper through Sydney’s CBD:

Everywhere I went, it seemed, women were at odds with their appearances — stocking up on appetite suppressants, suffocating shapewear, and gym memberships aimed at punishing their bodies into submission.

Picture: Angela Weiss/ AFPAs someone who writes about sex and body confidence, these days I’m not shy about showing off my cellulite, or letting my breasts sag in a braless ensemble.

Unfortunately, it was far too late to back out. My best friend was already headed toward the city with her camera, where I’d agreed to stage the shoot.“How bad does this look?” I asked, nervously emerging from the bedroom. Waiting for us in the city, standing in front of a busy Pitt Street Mall, my best friend immediately ran up and threw her arms around me.I wore a ‘naked’ romper through the CBD.I anxiously made my way through the crowd of shoppers to take position, the sunshine accentuating a ripple of cellulite beneath my romper.Buoyed by her fierce reassurance, I suggested we venture to the nearby train station, to gauge more people’s reactions to my look.

Wouldn't it be interesting if, when modern women crave attention &/or seek to make an impact, they moved beyond the quickest & easiest option of getting naked? It's getting tedious. And would this approach be deemed entertaining, or toxic & threatening, if men followed suit? Hmm

Looks normal to me.

No one gives a shit

Understanding of addiction is ‘shocking’ | Sky News AustraliaWriter Corrine Barraclough says the level of understanding around addiction is “shocking” in Australia and found Minister for Families and Social Services Anne Ruston comments on drug testing for welfare recipients “disappointing”.\n\nTwice-rejected plans to trial drug-testing will be re-introduced by the Morrison government when parliament returns on Monday and if passed will see trials start in parts of Sydney, southeast Queensland and south of Perth, involving 5000 people applying for Newstart for the first time.\n\nMs Ruston said on Friday no money would be taken away from recipients with drugs in their system but some of it would be “quarantined” so cash would not go to drug dealers and people can address their addiction.\n\nSpeaking to Sky News Ms Barraclough said reducing welfare scammers, and the level of addiction in Australia are two separate issues.\n\n“It’s not like shopping for a new outfit before an interview. Facing up to addiction is complicated and a really long process. The first year of trying to remain clean and sober is an absolute full-time job in itself,” she said.\n\nImage: Getty It is actually quite easy to understand. I misuse caffeine, is it a problem?
