Christmas shoppers have been left stranded at Myer stores nationwide, unable to pay for items, after the store's IT system collapsed.

At 3.30pm at Myer's flagship Melbourne store in Bourke Street Mall, shoppers stood in a queue that snaked for around 20 metres to make purchases at a register that staff said was the only operational one.Staff said Myer's head office had not informed them when the system would be up and running.Shoppers queue at Myer's Melbourne CBD store.Nick Williams, 29, wanted to buy singlets in the men's section on the store's seventh level about 2.30pm.

"They've been saying they had to literally leave their [items] in the queue and just walk out," he said. "We've had a few just in our small section, but there would be more across the store I'm sure ... It's a pretty big balls-up."

Oh we were able to pay! $1300 three times. Holding over 3k of our money. Cart lost and blamed it on our side. Got money back and shopped elsewhere!

Stranded The doors wouldn't open 🤔

The humanity

Beat the queue and shop online...do people still put themselves through that crap at Xmas!

I guess it’s mired in controversy now.

They could always leave the items behind

Myers use Jetstar IT.

Last year online fail. This year instore fail. Not helping their cause

Think of the money you’ve saved folks.🤑

Would you say it's time to crack each other's heads open and feast on the goo inside?

Little Beijing must be in a panic

Imagine how many “does that means it’s free” there was today

Just come out of the Melbourne store. Absolute farce. Enormous queues and no one had any idea.

Unemployed couple’s GoFundMe to pay for kids Xmas presents slammedAn unemployed couple with seven kids who launched a GoFundMe appeal to help pay for Christmas has been slammed for not “taking responsibility”. You have kids; you know they are going to cost. If you can't afford 1 don't have 7. Christmas comes at the same time every year so they should have saved a bit each fortnight..that's what the rest of us try to do You know what is cheaper than children? Condoms.... My labourer father and stay at home mum couldn't afford to buy us five kids xmas presents. So we didn't get any. I must admit I felt like a freak when friends would ask what I got. But, we had a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, and food on the table.
