A British politician said she was fired from a ministerial job in Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservative government partly because her Muslim faith was making colleagues uncomfortable, it is reported.

Ms Ghani said, in response, that the Conservative Party complaint process was "very clearly not appropriate" because her dismissal related to her position in the government, rather than in the party.

Recent scandals have drained public support from both Mr Johnson personally and his party, presenting him with the most serious crisis of his premiership. It is disappointing that when this issue was raised before Ms Ghani declined to refer the matter to the Conservative Party for a formal investigation.

Tory Chief Whip Mark Spencer admitted that he was the individual who spoke to Ms Ghani – before strongly refuting her claims.

Former Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamad admitted to hospital for third time in a monthMalaysia's longest-serving leader, who famously clashed with former prime minister Paul Keating in 1993, is resting in a cardiac care unit in Kuala Lumpur, his spokesperson announces. He and Keating were such fun together as a comedy act. First time I ever heard the word recalcitrant! That was the word Keating used to describe Mahathir. Loved Keating, what a politician. A PM and man of vision, brilliant oratory and as hard as real. A master of the put down. Recalcitrant therapy
