It’s called work experience, kids. A once great way to get EXPERIENCE in the field of work that you’re interested in gaining employment in one day.

I don't agree with unpaid work as much as I don't agree with free muffins.

Another over paid grubby executive.

This American idea of unpaid interns should be banned. It is not needed. By law you must pay people for service and work. Just double secrete probation.

Employing staff at NO cost is the only way your badly run franchise MAY survive.

I hope her muffin breaks.

How out of touch is this woman?

Yep, i'm all for boycottmuffinbreak

Cue all the people who don’t shop at muffin break, threatening to boycott muffin break...

Take her 'managers' salary and benefits, and give her a teachers salary since that's all she's doing.

Internships are immoral in my eyes. Fine if you are independently wealthy which rules out most people.

Blaming social media indeed! What a 1/2 wit.

plenty places for young people to sign up and get paid to do retail ...their strength is that they are so affordable that the manager is willing to train them from scratch ...the pay sucks but it's still better than a muffin and a free coffee ...or is that the other way around...

Wow, talk about being out of touch, this lady wants to be exhibit number one I think

Using free labour in Muffin Break and any other business is wrong. A minimum pay rate for training inexperienced staff should be implemented and should be only for up to a month. Hospitality staff deserve to be treated fairly.

Seriously if your business is built on wagetheft, you need to come up with a better business plan... hospovoice

Who is she going to blame when she loses her job tomorrow?

Never realised they expected people to want to work for free auspol I’ll never shop there again

Natalie, try paying wages to your workers. That way they have disposable income, which is spent at shops like yours. So we all benefit. People like you are what drags down the economy.

Her comments are pathetic.

There are certain companies that are worth doing internships for: Google, Apple, Tesla, McKinsey - world-leading companies with high paying jobs. Muffin Break is not such a company.

Like I said elsewhere, I can see how selling muffins for no pay would enhance anyones career opportunities 🙄

mackaysuzie Just boycott the business.

Because it takes ages to learn how to slop sugary batter into a hole repeatedly and turn the oven on. Rocket science it ain't. Your products are obesity-inducing shit for bored office workers, missus.

Liked the observation around bonuses for doing basics of management role.

People say the dumbest shit when they are trying to make money off the effort of other's.

Agreed with her 120%. They really need to have some reality check on themself.

Pretty sure she doesn't give her time for free

Who did she blame for her 'entitlement to Exploit

Plz don't boycott MuffinBreak MuffinBreak stores as they are majority owned by franchisees aka small business owners. If you want to protest this leech, email FoodCo HO to lobby for her sacking - don't punish struggling businesses because of this clowns outdated views

'Lack of interest in seeking unpaid work'? Wouldn't have anything to do with the cost of living would it. Or that unpaid 'work' is slavery? There are people I would work pro-bono for. Very few are stranger's or business owners.

Does that mean people can get muffins for no payment too?

Think I’ll boycottmuffinbreak

Wow. She thinks young people looking for work seem a bit full of themselves because they want payment for work? This woman epitomises the mentality & sense of entitlement of exploitative business people. 'Flexibility' = freedom to exploit. Unpaid work = slavery. Change the Rules.

Well that’s a shame, Muffin Break muffins are great. Not buying them anytime soon.

seriously cant understand why someone spruiking slave labour hasn't been locked up we do have anti slavery laws you know

I think she needs to work for free for several months in order to learn how to be a human being.

Still waiting for my free MuffinBreak

There is no coming back here; she is quoted and filmed saying what a frontal lobe affected ARBD or alzheimers person or a pig greed arsed snout in the trough entitled inbred pathetic colostomy bag would say. It is not acceptable at any level at any time

I blame social: news media; that I’m going to boycott that shoddy chain. Did they actually survive the late 90’s and 07-08 bubble? Good luck with the next crash mates. boycottShitBusiness exploitation

She has muffins to swap for money. I have labour to swap for money. If I take her muffins without paying, that’s a crime. If she takes my labour without paying..?

Now this is ironic.

Muffin Break manager’s 'self-important millennials' claim slammed by intern groupThe advocacy group for interns and students undertaking work placements says young people are more than willing to gain work experience, but many can’t afford it. let them eat muffin I hear the new humble pie flavoured muffins are quite good, although some have said they’re a bit salty! This just fosters entitlement. I did several unpaid internships when studying. It was hard (unpaid) work that gave me the edge when I applied for jobs upon graduation. Stood me in good stead. In the end, I was paid, just not with money - with experience. There's no problem here.
