A Melbourne mother has fought off a violent intruder who attacked her with a box cutter, leaving her bloodied from slash wounds to her face and arms. 9News

Simpson was told by hospital staff that the bluntness of the cutting blade may have been the difference between superficial wounds and the severing of a major artery.

"We're very lucky that the box cutting off the attacker use was in an old blunt one," her partner Damien Jurss said. Jurss had been at work when he saw a message from Ms Johnson telling him there was someone in the house. "I called her straight away but the detectives already had her phone and they told me to get home as soon as possible," he said."I told her what are you thinking you should have just given it [car keys and money] to him and not risked yourself," he said.A Victoria Police spokesman said they had a description of the man and were currently investigating the incident.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 but in America they just have to have a gun to murder the intruder. This weakling (no offence) can win with a Stanley knife but a hulking yank just HAS to stand his rubbish ground by murdering them... GoFigure

Does it make it worse she was a mother, not a woman? Implying it's worse for a grandmother to be attacked than an ordinary older woman. It shouldn't matter if you've had children or not. They're all victims of crime.

Gee, Melbourne ! 'Trys to act surprised once again' 🙄

Those wounds don't look defensive. Isn't it convenient that they forgot to attach the steering lock and brought it in with them?

She will probably be charged with assault!!

Of course no mention of the racial background of the intruder. It wasn't that long ago the police used to release an identikit image of the suspect. They can't do that now for fear of being branded racist because, you know, facts are racist.

Lucky he didn’t cut her box hey.
