A shopping centre in Melbourne’s northwest has been revealed as “an area of most concern” after Victoria recorded 20 new local cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday.

While five of those cases were in quarantine during their infectious period – an increase on Monday – testing commander Jeroen Weimar said Caroline Springs square shopping centre continued to alarm health authorities.

“We have seen now 25 cases associated with the Caroline Springs square shopping centre across a number of different retail units and people – some of those are household contacts.” She said they shopped at the centre and investigations were underway into how they contracted the virus. The shopping centre has been listed as a tier two coronavirus exposure site, with anyone who visited the venue between July 27 and August 5 urged to get a Covid-19 test and isolate until a negative result had been received.

'Front of pandemic' moves into Penrith as residents hit with tougher restrictionsNSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian says she hopes tougher restrictions will 'stem the tide' and stop the virus 'seeping into additional communities', as Penrith in Western Sydney becomes a new area of concern. Talk to your GP, get vaccinated. Follow the law (even if you don't agree). Dont lower your core values like GladysB. Her barbaric attack, division, discrimination of NSW citizens is unforgivable. Dont forget this for next election. She hasn't saved lives, she's ruined humanity

We need an inquiry into the vaccine rollout debacle GregHuntMP should be sacked until a new vax resistent strain of the virus comes along?

Vaccination the only way for Australia to escape its ‘gilded cage’There is no viable long-term strategy that says we can simply keep the virus out, writes Deakin University Vice-Chancellor Iain Martin. COVID-19 will become a globally endemic virus if it is not already. | OPINION ... Get NSW to get off their ass and do what Victoria did, theres a place to start. They are incompetent. Why do people keep acting like that wasn't the plan? CHO’s masquerading as epidemiologists have created the myth of Covid zero in Australia. If you want to stay home and isolate it’s your choice. Time to rejoin the rest of the world in acceptance of covid.

Blame the lockdown on business urgers trying to wish the virus awayBusiness feeling the pain of NSW’s protracted lockdown have no one to blame but the short-sighted, self-centred voices on their own side. 1RossGittins Blame it on the Liberals being just the political arm of the business lobby and the IPA/Murdoch media. 1RossGittins Blame the lockdown on western suburbs families continuing to visit each other. I would put money on many of the “mystery” cases under investigation won’t say they went to their extended family member’s house. 1RossGittins No person let alone any business owner in Southern or Western Sydney should vote Liberal again. The Liberals have protected the Eastern & Northern rich & famous while blaming the working suburbs & businesses. Remember this started in Bondi & she failed to lockdown. The arrogance.
