Given the polling got it right for Labor’s landslide victory in Western Australia, the numbers could now be showing the “beginning of the end” of the Morrison government, says City of Ryde Mayor Jerome Laxale. “In September last year, Mark McGowan’s personal approval rating cracked 91 per cent and even as recently as Friday it settled at 88 per cent,” Mr Laxale said.
He pointed to the last round of state-based polls, which saw Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk with a 65 per cent approval rating, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews at 65 per cent, and NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian with a 75 per cent approval rating. “Yet Scott Morison, at the same poll, sat at 53 per cent,” Mr Laxale said.
