More than 200 Australians stranded on Italian-bound cruise with confirmed COVID-19 case

"We're OK at the moment, but there's a lot of elderly people on this cruise, most of them over 70," Mrs Jacques said.

Mr Jacques said there were no hand sanitisers in their rooms and passengers were desperate not to disembark in Italy, the country hardest hit by the virus. "We're hearing yelling from outside, we're hearing people on the balcony, different languages arguing, so tensions are high and they will get higher," he said."They're literally just trapped in a room on a boat with no communication and pretty much been told they're just going to Italy, which from what we know in Australia is one of the world's worst places [for coronavirus]," Elise Jacques said.

"She's been under a great deal of stress and my sister and my mum thought it would be a good idea to go on a cruise.

Four rellies of mine decided a trip to India was OK 3 wks ago. Should have heard the whinge when they realised they may not make it back in. They were lucky just made it back yesterday. No checks no temps taken just told to isolate for 14 days. Absolute idiots make me mad.

Coronavirus has been in the world since late December. The Diamond Princess debacle happened early February. These people made a choice surely knowing these facts. Now they get to enjoy the consequences.

Cruise and airlines need to cancel cruises and flights and refund all monies, who would want to travel overseas in the near future.

Costa Victoria.. they boarded late February. Pandemic declared on 11 March but had been spreading for several weeks.

Send them to Cuba, I think they are the only country with open arms for confirmed cases.
