Police clashed violently with protesters in Moscow and arrested more than 2,500 demonstrators in cities across the country Saturday as Russians took to the streets.

Meanwhile US State Department spokesman Ned Price said Washington"strongly condemns the use of harsh tactics against protesters and journalists".

Leonid Volkov, who heads Mr Navalny's regional network, estimated that as many as 300,000 people had joined the"unprecedented" nationwide protests, and called for fresh rallies next weekend. Mr Navalny's detention drew sharp condemnation from Western countries, and the US embassy in Moscow Saturday accused Russian authorities of"suppressing" the right of demonstrators to peaceful protest.

In Saint Petersburg, where police detained nearly 300 demonstrators, 20-year-old Alexei Skvortsov told AFP that he no longer wanted to live in a"dictatorship".Western nations ‘deeply troubled’ by arrest of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny

Sick of vlads corruption.

Everyone should watch the Putin’s Palace video on YouTube. Shocking Russians have put up with Putin’s corruption and authoritarianism for two decades.

These protesters had no chance whilst Trump played president and never showed the balls to even question Putin. Fingers crossed human rights get some more recognition under Biden.

looks like the gulags are gonna get a big influx of new labourers.

These solar devices should be made in China, right? This needs to be resolved quickly. 🤦‍♂️ Most countries don't install vulnerable devices on their roofs.
