An additional 15 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be delivered in 2022, according to Moderna's statementThe announcement came in a Wednesday evening media statement without any adjoining statement from the federal government, which hasModerna said it would provide 25 million doses of their mRNA vaccine, with 10 million of those doses, effective against what they labelled the "ancestral strain" of COVID-19, to arrive in 2021.
The company said another 15 million doses will be delivered to Australia in 2022 and they will be of what Moderna called an "updated variant booster candidate vaccine". Those deals are subject to regulatory approval from Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration, which Moderna said it would submit an application to "shortly".
If that is successful then Moderna would join both AstraZeneca and Pfizer as vaccines approved for use to Australians.Moderna said it would discuss the notion of producing the vaccine locally with the Australian government.

Had the failed AZ early in anticipation that it would be worn off by years end and then I could get one that works. Moderna is the best on offer and I’ll be lining up. Missed my only grandchild’s 3rd and 4th birthday 12/5, hoping to be there for the 5th in NYC!

This is an admission by the Govt that AZ Vax is inferior in every way to Pfizer and Moderna. Lower efficacy, 3 month gap between doses, ineffective against some variants & worse side effects. Monumental fail by the Govt backing the wrong vaccine & then delay in changing course.

Is it because no other country wants it ? Why australia gets the B grade vaccines? Why aren't we getting the vaccine that works with no side effects? Weak government!

Feds finally trying to catch up. But I found it interesting to see some replies insisting on Pfizer given data that has shown pretty much equivalent performance between Moderna and Pfizer.
