The JobMaker Hiring Credit provides incentives for businesses to hire younger workers who have been receiving income support, but jobseekers ineligible for the subsidy believe the program will only make it more difficult for them to find work.

When Missy Harwood left her job at an insurance company in February, she had no idea how difficult it was about to become to find another one.The JobMaker Hiring Credit will give businesses up to $200 a week for hiring young workersThe legislation is currently being examined by a Senate committee

It will provide businesses with up to $200 per week if they hire additional workers between the ages of 16 and 35 who have been receiving the JobSeeker, Youth Allowance or Parenting payments. The Government expects the $4 billion hiring credit to support 450,000 jobs and legislation to set it up is currently being examined by a Senate committee.In its submission to the inquiry, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry encouraged Parliament to pass the subsidy as quickly as possible, arguing it was a "welcome, practical measure" to address youth unemployment.
