A minute silence has been held for the three American aerial fire crew killed fighting our bushfires.

A farewell and thank you breakfast was held in Wolli Creek for overseas personnel who have come to our aid. The aircraft lost contact with ground crews hours before the wreckage was found in the state's Snowy Monaro region on Thursday.

NSW RFS Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said the tragedy has shocked the community and that “formal investigations and inquiries are underway”. Prime Minister Scott Morrison and NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian sent their condolences following the deaths. Image: Getty
