The NSW Government has ordered an investigation following the stabbing of a 17-year-old boy in Sydney ’s west, with the attack allegedly carried out by a mental health patient with a knife obsession. The review will examine how John Hickey, 24 was allowed to leave the custody of NSW Health on two occasions despite advice that he was a public threat.
