Two men and a cat were rescued from a damaged yacht off the Queensland coast overnight.
The pair told rescuers they were attempting to sail from Yeppoon to Geelong, but only got as far as Fraser Island before one of the yacht's sails tore.They made it about 500 kilometres south, to Fraser Island, before one of the 38-foot yacht's sails tore.The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called to rescue the men just after midnight.
"Due to the conditions at 3 o'clock in the morning, it was too dangerous to do a winch in the dark," Mr White said. The rescue helicopter landed nearby and picked up the pair, as well as their cat, which had spent a few hours locked away in the yacht.
