Participants will receive two injections in their upper arm, three weeks apart, in an effort to confirm the vaccination is safe for human use and whether it provides immunity from COVID-19 and for how long.
Australian microbiologist Dr Paul Griffin is helping to trial a vaccine he believes could guard against coronavirus.The foundation’s Dr Rodney Pearce said new technology used to create the vaccine was exciting because, instead of using a live virus, proteins were created in the laboratory, in an attempt to trick the body into thinking it was dealing with coronavirus, triggering an immune response.
Dr Griffin said the company was so confident in the vaccine it already had plans for phase-two trials, which would likely involve more than 2000 people in Australian and the United States, while planning was also underway for a phase-three trial.
I admire their bravery..I am very much for vaccination but I do remember a trial that went wrong in the UK sometime ago..
We need a major behavioural change, a vaccine may or may not work. Nothing will go back to the way things were but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. We can improve so much, all we need is to think more creatively. People moving to smaller towns to create economic clusters.
