Broadcaster Michael McLaren says the lockdown in Melbourne left “a very damaged economy”, and a damaged economy “leaves behind damaged people”.

The lockdown in Melbourne was costing Australia $200 million a day, Mr Jones said.

Sky News host Alan Jones said, “why is any of this stuff locked down, do these politicians think they’re going to eliminate the virus? You’re not going to eliminate the virus.” Mr McLaren said some of the politicians probably suspect they can eliminate the virus, “they can do incredible things, they probably suspect they can”.

DavidDavisMLC You can help damaged people recover, not sure you can help dead people. Let's stick together, ❤ your fellow human.

WE ARE DAMAGED! Our soul & system has been smashed but we’ll stay & rebuild. It’ll take decades but Victoria deserves it. We just need Labor out for a while.

If the Melbourne lockdown left behind a ‘very damaged economy’, why is it the 3rd best state last quarter, better than NSW 🤔?!

It's was not anyone's intention, guess it was more valuable to save lives & prevent spread.

DavidDavisMLC The left simply think the economy has been on pause for 6 months and everything returns to normal. Economic vandals.

There is something seriously, wrong with Dan Andrews.

DavidDavisMLC no what it left is a healthy society that will rebound you are profit before lives

It is NOT true to say that a no lockdown alternative would necessarily be a superior economic outcome. Many economic costs and much disruption being seen in nations unable to bring Covid 19 under control.

Sydney radio’s Michael McLaren knows exactly what’s happening in Melbourne.

Lockdown is not over Still can't leave Melbourne. Still lots of nonsensical restrictions.

Actually ....

Pandemics leave behind dead people.

Recession was inevitable under LNP, Covid or not.

Michael McLaren incorrect the Coronavirus has damaged the Economy , Victoria is resilient.

Absolutely. He should have unilaterally offered Jobseeker and jobkeeper to Victorians and suspended rent, rates, interest, and loan repayment. Oh. Not what you meant?

Now we can sped

So true😢I can vouch for that☹️😢

Michael ...as a Sydney resident probably best leave the commentary to people that actually live in Melbourne. You should be comparing Victoria with the problems of the US, UK and the rest of Europe.....that's where you will find a real mess.

A 'danged economy' can be fixed. Being dead is permanent. I'm just glad more Aussies haven't died. Well done Victoria, I'm proud you're Australian. You've done the right thing.

While this idiot posts photos of him having shots of scotch to twitter like he's cured world hunger. One deranged, dangerous individual.

Sky News 'journos' seem most damaged of all

Of course they have to say that because saying 'Thanks Victoria, great job!' is not an option.

Cmon sky stop being fuckheads for just one minute and start talking about the Australian Spirit , drop the political bias and just be A bunch of Ozzies and let get this shit sorted

NoBeersForNewsCorp

Gee, wonder how damaged the economy would be if Andrews was announcing 45k cases today instead of.... zero

'Right Wing commentator toes the party line.' Since when is this news?

Yep 👍 I can tell

No, Murdoch Media damages people. NoBeersForNewsCorp

No ..What is has done is left an economy that can rebound as people are free from restrictions... Victorians will soon. Learn to party like the Chinese

A sick economy is a weak economy - not to mention it leaves behind dead people.

NoBeersForNewsCorp , perpetual flow of rank BS from Sky

'Broadcaster Michael McLaren' has literally zero expertise in this field so who the fuck cares what he says

victorians are already damaged people!

SkyNews had a large role to play in damaging people, their hopes and their freedom of information, through your partisan opinions 'disguised' as news. So no. fakenews clickbate

Who the hell is 'broadcaster Michael McLaren'? Does appearing on Sky After Dark increase or decrease his audience?

Any evidence that letting 10,000's of people die and for this to drag on another 18 Months was a better plan Michael? auspol

Bedwetters who support Andrews think 'the economy' is a vault full of gold coins somewhere, a la Duck Tales

Moving towards financial fascism:

The lockdown in Melbourne left a lot of very alive people. Dead people are even more damaged. You absolute Muppets.

Not according the socialist leftwards

Daniel Andrews’ ‘bait and switch’ was the last straw for Melbourne businesses | Sky News AustraliaSky News Business Editor Ticky Fullerton says Melbourne businesses won’t have any confidence that there won’t be a “wobble and a retraction” from Daniel Andrews going forward, despite his announcements on Monday marking a “hallelujah day”.\n\nPremier Daniel Andrews has finally green-lit the opening of retail, restaurants, hotels and cafes from Wednesday after Melburnians spent weeks in lockdown while case numbers were extremely low.\n\nHowever, Victorians were initially told by the premier that if the rolling 14-day average overnight infections dropped below five then hospitality and retail would reopen.\n\nThe rolling 14-day average did drop below five on Sunday, but the premier did not loosen restrictions based on the cluster in Northern Melbourne.\n\n“The bait and switch that this government has delivered literally in the last three days I think will have been the last straw for some small businesses,” Ms Fullerton said.\n\n“There was an expectation that businesses would be open, serving you with food on Monday morning and it never happened.\n\n“This bait and switch would have been the last straw for many of those businesses.\n\n“And why should they now have any confidence that there won’t be a wobble and a retraction of things going forward.”\n Sky News is an embarrassment to this country Bit worried about this but will support my local if I can get a reservation. Persisting lockdown laws in Melbourne pose 'terrible' challenge for small businesses | Sky News AustraliaMelbourne beauty salon owner April Brodie says Daniel Andrews' announcement on Monday was “bittersweet”, as the continuing lockdown rules restrict the salon to receiving simply 20 per cent of its usual income. \n\nAfter months of strict lockdown, Premier Daniel Andrews announced on Monday Melbourne’s small businesses will open on Wednesday. \n\n“We’re delighted we can finally open, but to be only able to open to 20 per cent of our income,” she told Sky News host Peta Credlin. \n\n“Because a client has to keep their mask on. So, even if a lady wants a lip wax, they want electrolysis on their lip, never mind a facial, they cannot simply have it done. It is terrible.\n\n“We’ve looked at everything moving forward and there’s no message, no note to say when we can have these services or when they can do them.\n\n“Even regional is ahead of us and they still can’t do any facials or remove the mask.”\n\n\n DanielAndrewsMP that's shocking, but on the bright side I know Scomo will be reaching out all in this position and save the day DanielAndrewsMP DanielAndrewsMP NoBeersForNewsCorp
