A Melbourne couple from a "priority" suburb claim their COVID-19 tests have not been collected for almost a week, leaving them questioning the competency of those tasked with containing the second wave.

"Every day since then we've rung and they've apologised but it hasn't been collected," Mr Baybon told"If they can't collect these things, how many other peoples' haven't been collected and how many of us may be positive, who knows?" Outside the "hard lockdown" zone, ordinary Australians have been going above and beyond to help those inside.

The same group also spent weeks on the ground during the bushfire crisis, ensure families had hot meals. Despite the outpouring, the Department of Health initially refused to accept the donations. Even now once bags are dropped off, some residents say it's taking hours for them to be brought upstairs.
