The AFL can’t keep asking AFLW players to upend their lives on a whimAFLW finals have arrived, but for the players whose teams missed out, uncertainty lies ahead. It still grinds my bones that the men’s competition dates are released firmly in advance and the women’s game is always just left to make it up on the run. Olympic and comm games next ten years will upset all sports schedules I love womens footy, I love my girls playing but AFLW isn’t a TV or drawcard game - it may improve, it may not. But there is a place. Semi pro, train after work, play curtain raisers with actual crowds, televised highlights, finals & match of Round. Sound familiar? Stop whining! You’ve had tonnes of money thrown at you, you are given publicity like you would believe and it’s just an absolute rubbish imposter product.
