A clinic in Sydney's south-west is under fire for charging people $225 to be vaccinated. 9News

Migrant communities like Campsie currently have some of the highest rates of COVID-19.

"I am working here," one doctor responded to the reporter's questions about whether it was fair to charge people money for vaccines.A Current Affair reporter Dimity Clancey approached the clinic for comment. "And to take advantage of people that don't speak English, to take advantage of people that don't know it's for free, well they should be put in jail themselves.NSW Premier Gladys Berejilkian also issued a warning today."Please know the vaccine is accessible and free. Anyone that's asking you to pay is not doing the right thing," Ms Berejiklian said.that clinics should not be charging any fees related to COVID-19 vaccinations.

The MBS COVD-19 vaccine flag-fall item provides a rebate of $57.25 in addition to the rebates for the MBS item vaccine assessment items. The flag-fall is payable to GPs and OMPs assessing people to receive a COVID-19 vaccination outside of their consulting rooms in recognition of the increased costs involved.

Desperate to be vaccinated, migrants in Sydney pay hundreds to get their COVID-19 jabsPeople in the southwest Sydney suburb of Campsie, where there are high rates of COVID-19 transmission, have paid hundreds of dollars to be vaccinated. My take - the clinic is pushing the boundaries with their patient fees but it is a private clinic…but the overly convoluted NSWHealth booking system is the bigger issue here. nswpol has been slow to address language barriers, and it’s going to become an even bigger issue. Blessed Health Care clinic is that a religious based clinic? which sect? The government need to reconsider how to pay private run practices that are helping marginalised people. At least the clinic is doing a comprehensive assessment before administering the vaccine. Initially I was shocked about the charges but I can see this is a Medicare issue!
