The head of the local broadcaster said the three women were recent high school graduates aged between 18 and 20.

Three female media workers have been shot dead in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad, government officials said, amid a wave of killings that is spreading fear among professional workers in urban centres.

Government sources said the women were killed on their way home from work and witnesses said gunmen shot the women in the head before fleeing. A fourth woman was injured and a hospital spokesman said she had been admitted to hospital and was fighting for life. “The targeted killing of journalists could cause a state of fear in the journalistic community, and this could lead to self-censorship, abandonment of media activities, and even leaving the country,” said Mujib Khalwatgar, head of Afghan media advocacy group Nai.

Taliban. They a doing what Hitler did. Negotiating peace while continuing to kill

Sounds like Afghanistan hates women. They’re always either killing women or targeting them or bashing them. Movies, news, social media all show evidence of men in that country constantly victimising or killing their girls/women. So sad 😭 😔

This is where the real advocacy journalists from Australia should go. This is where women do need to be protected and given equal rights. Fems in Australian media roar like lions untamed while male journalist and males in general are patsies, mice.

🙏🏼😥
