UPDATE: Television networks are fronting the Federal Court this morning after police imposed restrictions on media aircraft flying over Melbourne's CBD. 9News

Initially, media helicopters were completely banned from flying over the exclusion zone, but Victoria Police have backtracked to allow those who have been given permission but demanded a 60-minute delay on broadcasting any aerial images.

Police say the restriction, which is in place until September 26, is to avoid aiding protesters from having access to live footage showing them where officers are as they try to disrupt the groups. "This is because protestors were actively monitoring aerial livestreams, compromising the police operation and putting the safety of members at risk."Victoria's police chief Shane Patton admitted he did not think the move would be a "big deal" while speaking toBut he admitted police "probably" should have consulted media outlets before making the application to CASA."It is allowing them to see, in real-time, what our tactics are.

"But to restrict us from seeing what's there – you can't do that. They say democracy dies in darkness. The AJF said it was essential for news organisations to cover the protests live and "the ban amounts to unnecessary overreach of police powers".

Most reporters report fake news anyway or twist the story to favour the police

It is impossible what is happening in Melbourne. To forbid reporters to report the demonstration on TV and to forbid taking pictures by flying over the demonstration in a democratic country. I have no words. How far is Victoria coming

They are planning a massacre, media shoo

Finally

So we all should follow restrictions and shut up but the media go straight to court 😂😂everyone is one decision away from being upset.

So the media dont like to be told what they can and can't do too ... Interesting.

Do the state Police have powers over what is federal air space? Do they have their own air defence network?

Why is the media feeding the monkeys, you’re partially to blame for inflaming it by giving them the publicity😎

The media need to start to turn on Andrews and expose him for what he is, rather than continue to show only his narrative.

I heard at the late press conference yesterday that the Deputy Commissioner withdrew the restriction, but with the proviso that the downstreaming to occur 1 hour later. The protestor organisors were watching the live streams to see where the police were to plan their moves.
