Medevac bill forced to vote in Senate by government after Jacqui Lambie, Pauline Hanson support

The Morrison government has secured the numbers to repeal refugee medical transfer rules and restore its border protection regime amid uproar in the Senate over a "deal that dare not speak its name" with Tasmanian independent Jacqui Lambie.

Greens leader Richard Di Natale immediately accused the government of lying over the vote because Finance Minister Mathias Cormann claimed there was no "secret deal" while Senator Lambie revealed there was. The government gained support from Senator Lambie and Pauline Hanson's One Nation to bring on the vote on Wednesday morning, over the objections of Labor, the Greens and Centre Alliance.

Thank goodness sanity has prevailed and the senators who apposed the motion should foot the bill of those who came across illegally starting with Keneally and Wong
