Breaking: Eddie McGuire has announced he will step down as Collingwood Football Club president at the end of 2021

Eddie McGuire has announced he will step down as Collingwood Football Club president at the end of 2021.

McGuire made the announcement as the Magpies' fan forum on Monday night, at which the club was expected to confront the fallout from its tumultuous trade period. But the McGuire announcement has utterly overshadowed all other agenda items. McGuire was re-elected unopposed for another three-year term in February this year. In effect, his decision to step down at the end of 2021 cuts short his term by a bit over 12 months.
