Former Nationals leader Michael McCormack’s ministerial career is effectively over in a reshuffle which will see Senator Bridget McKenzie back in cabinet, according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell. “That’s the end of Michael McCormack’s ministerial career, perhaps forever,” Mr Clennell said.

Bridget McKenzie, who resigned as Minister for Sport after she was embroiled in a $100 million community sports rorts scandal, will be rewarded for supporting newly re-elected leader Barnaby Joyce’s election to the party’s helm. Darren Chester is also facing a demotion with Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia Keith Pitt set to take over as Minister for Veterans Affairs. “She’s come from absolutely nowhere,” Mr Clennell said.
