South-east Queensland mayors on an 11-day ratepayer-funded trip to the US and Canada will question how athletes’ villages built for OlympicGames can add housing options to host cities.

the University of California campus as the athletes’ village for the 2028 Games.Hamilton Northshore will be the main village for 10,000 athletes during the 2032 Olympic Games, and 5000 athletesAfter the Games it will include aged care, retirement living, social and affordable housing, hotels, and key worker, build-to-rent and market accommodation, Deputy Premier Steven Miles said.

“We have made it very clear with Andrew Liveris and the Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee on the Olympic Games board that anything we learn we will be sharing with you,” he said. “They are working to deal with that for the next Olympics they host in 2028 to make sure the public transport system works well.”
