Was there actually any competition here? Steve Matai has another title to his name: HARDEST HITTER 🔨 from the past 30 years, as voted by NRL fans.

More than 80,000 votes were cast on NRL.com and Instagram and Facebook polls, with Matai winning an all Manly final.NRL.com recently called on the fans to vote for the Simply The Best players from 1990 to now to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the iconic Tina Turner promotional campaign, which was again featured in this year's Telstra Premiership advertisement.was made up of superstars across the board with Melbourne mentor Craig Bellamy named the greatest coach of the modern era.

Wayne Bennett would station the bulky back-rower in the defensive line next to Lockyer and it worked to perfection to keep his star playmaker fresh for attack and Carroll would eat up the big boppers that came their way. They don't come much harder than the man they called"Cement", a nuggety second-rower then prop for the Bulldogs, Wests and Manly in the 1980s and '90s who played 16 Tests for Australia.

Did he ever get anyone front on. I only remember him getting blindside shots?

Late usually and a dirty Cheap shot merchant.

Maybe, but the amount of times he went down clutching his shoulder .....hardest ?

Such a worthy recipient. Interesting fact is that Matai once played at the JetsRLFC under Trevor Gillmeister. I did an interview with Steve for RLW once where he said Gilly was a major influence on his defensive technique

Nah......really Maybe in the top 10 centres from manly.

Ian Roberts

All those shoulder injuries weren't for no reason... That guy used to hit like 🚚. Arguably the best highlight reel apart from SBW & a few others. BringBackTheShoulderCharge

Any props playing State of Origin in the early 90’s 💁🏼

Morley surely. Splattered everyone, including Matai

No one cares ,.....they are political stooges not sport men any more

Blind sided blokes his entire career. Cheap shot merchant

Another favourite salutes!

And he was made of glass by the end of his career because of it.

with all due respect to those who created this poll and to the fans, unless you played and were tackled by these NRL players, how could you possible know who hit hardest? By the individuals size? By media commentators? Length of hair? Is this just engagement for engagements sake?

DaveTyrrell88 did you vote for this

Morley knocked the stuffing out of that bum

Ruben Wiki wasn't even an option in the poll. Ask Adrian Lam who the biggest hitter is.

Also won the man who was “offside the most “ in NRL history
