After weeks of Groundhog Day weather nationwide, the last few days have brought a dramatic change with the arrival of the first north-west cloudband of the season.

Millions of Aussies along 1,200km stretch of coastline in NSW, Victoria could be impacted by flash flooding, dangerous winds this weekend from eastern low

The winds may have not been so welcome, but for growing regions in the southwest and southeast, the rain certainly is – especially in WA’s southwest land division.Australians living anywhere on the east coast from eastern Victoria to the NSW Mid-North Coast should be on the lookout for a potentially dangerous low pressure system that could inundate the region with rainfall totals in excess of 100mm on Sunday, writes Alison Osborne.

The eastern states will follow on Friday with the risk of heavy falls in northeast Victoria and gales for alpine terrain. As the whole system moves out to sea, a low-pressure system will form and intensify – possibly an east coast low with the potential for a washout on Sunday for the coast with flash flooding, damaging winds, and rough surf.
