Premier Mark McGowan says Western Australia’s “careful and cautious” COVID response will leave the state in a “much safer” position than the rest of the country.

The Premier has stood firmly by his government’s decision to leave the border closed to Victoria, New South Wales and the ACT until early next year.

South Australia opened its border to the fully vaccinated this week, while Queensland and Tasmania have unveiled roadmaps to allow travellers from NSW and Victoria to enter over the busy holiday season. “We’re more cautious, we’re far more careful than other states. Being careful and cautious has worked, being adventurous has not.

Mr McGowan last week said the Prime Minister was being “unhelpful” and urged him to assist the states and territories with the ongoing vaccine rollout drive.
