Exclusive: Manufacturing can grow to create 495,000 new jobs in the next decade in the wake of COVID-19, a government-commissioned taskforce says

Manufacturing can grow to create 495,000 new jobs in the next decade in the wake of COVID-19, a government-commissioned taskforce says, as it calls for ambitious new government policy and industry collaboration to drive sector growth.criticises Australia's manufacturing policy, saying public investment has been "fragmented" and manufacturers are being forced to work with "short-term solutions" and "misaligned incentives".

"We have to ask ourselves, why can the French do so well in aerospace, the Germans do so well in manufacturing, the Swedes in submarines and so on," Professor La Brooy said. The chair of one of Australia's top-10 locally listed companies quoted anonymously in the report said industry policies in Australia had a "half-life" of less than two years, which was "anathema" to investment.Neither of the two unions that represent manufacturing workers with a seat on the taskforce would comment directly on the leaked report, but both have previously pushed for governments to mandate purchases of Australian-made products.

You can't grow manufacturing with unreliable, expensive, intermittent renewables. Thats just plain and simple fact.

We have to transition out of FossilGas not start using more of it. It’s not about price, it’s about living sustainably within planetary boundaries. There’s no jobs, manufacturing or profits on a dead planet. RaceToZero

Not if the unions have anything to do with it.

our manufacturing was decimated by high power n gas prices On top of that we have been flooded by cheap import from China Masks n hand sanitizers r being imported from China at 500% up from b4 pandemic Extortion price

Trump administration 'putting all their eggs into finding COVID-19 vaccine before election' | Sky News AustraliaThe Trump administration’s COVID-19 vaccine project “Operation Warp Speed” is emblematic of the President’s response to the coronavirus crisis, according to The New Republic reporter Alex Shephard. \n\nUnited States based biotechnology company Moderna was set to begin human trials on a potential vaccine as part of the government’s accelerated search for a virus vaccine. \n\n“The Trump administration has made this their top priority,” Mr Shephard told Sky News. \n\n“To a large extent it feels like their sort of last gasp, it’s the only thing that they’ve really put a great deal of priority on as a public health measure. \n\n“It sums up the President’s approach to this crisis which is that he’s looking for a quick fix – they’re putting all their eggs into finding a vaccine before the November election.” \n\nImage: AP He just sees it as another money making opportunity not a life saving emergency. The drug company that gets the vaccine will be worth trillions especially in America’s health care system. Can anyone remember what the Obama/Biden administration did during the influenza out brake: other than speeches after 1,000 had died? To date I've heard that if Biden was president he'd make everyone ware a mask and stay home. Some plan! TrumpVirus Except you can't discover a vaccine and release it within 4 months. There needs to several phases of human trials.
