Forcing people to get vaccinated in exchange for work or services could further “radicalise” anti-vaccination activists and should only be done as a last resort, immunisation experts and civil liberty groups say.

that all staff at schools and in early childcare would be required to be vaccinated, and must have at least one dose by October 18 as a condition of work. With the likelihood that full vaccination will soon be required for other sectors and services, experts have urged a cautious approach.

Those directions are powerful, with limited legal challenges available, but employers and unions are also grappling with mandatory vaccination for workplaces not subject to health orders, where the legal position is less clear. The federal government says vaccination should be voluntary, arguing the issue of whether to mandate is up to individual businesses, taking into account workplace safety, anti-discrimination and privacy laws.

Ms Kretzenbacher noted that while there were some workplaces where the use of a mandate is “proportionate to human rights” – such as in aged care or prisons – the government should instead boost funds to grassroots organisations that could help counter misinformation about vaccination. However, Dr Price said mandating vaccines was an ethically and legally challenging issue, fuelled by hesitancy, misinformation, and in some cases, people who simply wanted to be “uncooperative and don’t like the idea that it’s mandated”.

Across town in Melbourne’s west, 40-year-old Daniel Matcham is one among many Victorians who have recently had a change of heart. The sense that COVID vaccination would eventually be made mandatory in his industry was one of the many reasons he ended up deciding to have his first jab last month.

Lol. Doesn't take an expert to tell you this. Duh.

We mandate seatbelts; child restraints in cars; non smoking in public places, schools and restaurants; speed limits on roads; and vaccinations for day care yet somehow mandating vaccinations against the worst virus since the Spanish Flu will “radicalise” anti vax advocates.

Mandatory jabs will mean if people want to retain or get a job they will do it. Otherwise how will they get Jobseeker/ The UK has banned anti vaxers from getting welfare.

They are not opposed to mandatory Medicare for all.

Who are these self-professed “experts”?

mrl58 Any parent with a brain would want to be assured that their child was going into a safe environment at their childcare centre. Wait until parents start boycotting those that have unvaxxed staff or suing them if their child gets sick.

Antivaxxers are already susceptible to radicalisation…so what’s the % increase in being more radicalised….not much I suspect. Apparently the antivaxxers already have an identifying tattoo so they can pick out those in their tribe …I mean cult .

Just exclude antivaxers and they can associate with themselves : but gov't needs to back this action !

👮‍♀️Israel failed with 2 jabs! Started so called 3rd and 4th booster jabs. Africa is doing better as they are taking artemisinin. India and Japan started Ivermectin! Who is collecting money from the vax ? Vax is positive related with infection! Time to have alternate treatments!

You have suppressed society to the brink... and those who oppose are labelled with derogatory terms as if from the Quad Squad of HATE, themselves.

Is that what you call the result of refusal to follow the status quo and selfishness in the face of something that affects your fellow citizens. How about we discipline them as far as No Jab!! No Citizenship!! YOUKNOWWHERETHEDOORIS

Let them get radical. Doesn’t do any good if all the radicals are sick or dead

It seems we already divided, the pro vaccine are just as radical, government did awful job with this

It is for the health of all of us and that is what needs protecting .

Mandatory or not, anti-vaxxers are already radicalised.

I suspect they are anti vax because they ARE radicalised. But sure… pretend vax policy is at fault. That will help

You cannot make this vaccine mandatory as it has adverse side effects that are as extreme as death.

Mandatory seat belts could radicalise anti-seat belt campaigners, apologists claim.

They have no commonsense or community spirit.

They don't want to be vaccinated, Freedom of choice Study Finds Natural immunity offers STRONGER protection then the Vaccine Let them get Natural immunity

Radical anti vaxxers are the least of our worries. They are a very small subset of the population. Of more concern is the division it will cause across a significant, if not minority percentage of the population.

Read the comments 🤦🏻 people seriously think free will is a terrorist organisation. Seems free will has been sentenced to life imprisonment

why are we at war over vaccines? 6 reasons why you shouldn't worry about COVID-19 vaccines and how to go back to life the way it was

Please stop with the Mandatory Jab language. No-one in Australia will be required take the Covid jab. If some people don’t want the jab, that’s fine, they just have to accept that there will be consequences.

Similar to how a boot on the throat radicalizing its victim. Funny thing about fighting for your ability to live free that makes people radicalized. You are the enemy of a free people.

That would be a breach of human rights & international law. Will you next be forcing/coercing rape on people?

So they’re not already radicalized?

I thought Murdoch, Zuckerberg and Telegram already did that.

It doesn't radicalise 'anti vax' advocates. It radicalises every thinking person who understands that bodily autonomy is a basic human right. Have you ever considered MyBodyMyChoice to be a basic human right? What about when the premier needs your kidney - can we just take it?

I am not sick, so I do not need any medical services during this time, does that makes me an anti-vax?

It already exists as their are lots of crazy concepts out there!

Then they can be properly dealt with

Mandatory hot milk and bedtime could settle their tum tum, poor little darlings.

The slow March to authoritarianism always follows the same path. Submission for the greater good or some purportedly altruistic motive ends up becoming the one key to allowing abuse by the state.

Mandatory jabs means COVID ends. Just get everyone vaxxed.
