One of two men who unwittingly entered the green zone at Brisbane International Airport yesterday has tested positive for COVID-19, potentially exposing hundreds of passengers.

It is understood the pair dined at Hudson's Cafe at the international terminal for an hour-and-a-half before visiting the bathrooms and a retail outlet. More samples sent to Queensland Health's Forensic and Scientific Services laboratory have since confirmed that he is COVID-positive. "We're also grateful for the prompt action by Brisbane airport staff once the mistake was identified."

"What is clear is while these people have come from an area of high transmission, they've tested negative so far with one perhaps having an indeterminate test so far," he said. "The breach is due to human error, and BAC is currently working with all relevant authorities including Queensland Health to investigate the circumstances of the breach," a spokesperson said.
