Upon arrival at the scene in Gladstone North, police discharged their firearms resulting in the death of the male suspect, believed to be in his 30s. The older woman was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
The homicide squad is on the scene investigating the incident. Victorian Police Assistant Commissioner Luke Cornelius said the there were "numerous witnesses" to the attack, and are calling for those people to come forward. More to come.
