A man infected with the Alpha variant of COVID-19 flew from Brisbane to Perth, where he was refused entry and returned to Queensland.

Queensland Health is urgently contacting travellers on a flight from Perth to Brisbane after a man tested positive to COVID-19, but it has not yet publicly released the flight number or date and time.He spent 14 days in hotel quarantine and then travelled to WAQueensland authorities said the man arrived in Brisbane from overseas and completed 14 days of hotel quarantine.

She said she was “very relieved” he had the alpha variant and not delta, which is far more infectious. "He is a direct match with three other travellers who he was on two flights with – Philippines to PNG and PNG to Brisbane," Ms D'Ath said. Queensland Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said he tested negative after his quarantine in Brisbane.

Why are people allowed to fly around the country, during a pandemic?
