Queensland police confirm a man who was attacked by a shark while diving off Fraser Island, off the coast from Hervey Bay, died at the scene.

Queensland Police have confirmed a man has been killed in a shark attack off Fraser Island, off the coast from Hervey Bay.Emergency services were called to Indian Head Bypass Road just after 2:00pm.

A doctor and nurse provided first aid to the man on the shore before paramedics arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene."Our deepest condolences go to this young man's family and friends," Cr Seymour said. "The loss of a young life with his future before him is a tragedy beyond words. We share their sadness and grief."Police will now prepare a report for the coroner.

Old mate was a spear fisherman so he would have known the risks . Still a sad loss for his loved ones.
