The 28-year-old from Rockhampton maintained his innocence during a four-day trial in which prosecutors outlined a financial motive for the blaze in 2019.

An arsonist has been found guilty of intentionally setting his own home alight for an insurance payout.Prosecutors convinced the jury that Bromilow was financially motivated to set fire to his homeFire investigators were unable to determine the exact cause of the fire

Prosecutor Samantha O'Rourke outlined a financial motive after Bromilow made steps to renovate and bulldoze his Wandal home. Bromilow's godmother testified early in the trial. A former Queensland Fire and Emergency Service communications officer, she admitted the father and husband asked her how long it would take for fire crews to attend an emergency. She said Bromilow had joked with her only four days before the incident that "If someone did burn down the house, they'd be doing me a favour".Bromilow also increased his home's insurance cover from $250,000 to $350,000.

The courtroom heard how in the weeks and months leading up to the blaze, Bromilow had received a series of "anonymous threats"."This is a man who is desperately grabbing at straws," she argued.

I hope my house doesn't burn down Not because no one would believe it's an accident I just can't afford insurance

Or he could be a writer

Instead of googling 'where to stay after a fire' and 'how to make a fire burn hotter' perhaps he should have googled “how to hide your online presence”...
