A man who drove into a Brisbane police officer with a stolen car, significantly injuring him, is called 'cowardly and callous' by a judge who has handed him a 10-year prison sentence.

A man who rammed a police officer with a stolen car in Brisbane, causing him significant injuries, has been sentenced to 10 years' jail.

Craig Aland Townshend, 36, pleaded guilty in the Brisbane District Court to committing a malicious act with intent. The court heard Townshend deliberately drove at Senior Constable Aaron Izzard in September 2018 as the officer attempted to stop the stolen BMW at Chermside.Townshend will be eligible for parole after serving a minimum eight years of his sentence.
