Police are appealing for information after a 44-year-old man was found injured in a gutter in the suburb of Berwick just after midnight. He later died in hospital.

In a separate incident overnight, two men died after a house fire at Werribee, with officers investigating the cause of the blaze Police say the 44-year-old man was found injured in a Berwick gutter just after midnight after a passenger in a rideshare vehicle spotted him. The man was found with life-threatening injuries on the side of the Princes Highway, between Neill and Peel streets.They said the car involved would likely have extensive damage to the passenger-side front wheel arch and front lights.Meanwhile, officers are also looking into the circumstances of a Werribee house fire that took place overnight, with two men found dead this morning.A third man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
