Two men have been injured, one critically, in a shooting on a suburban street in Sydney's west, police say.

Police said one man was shot in the chest, and was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.Advertisement

Police set up a crime scene and cordoned off a large section of the street, while officers from the NSW Police public order and riot squad searched the area. Officers could be seen searching a nearby children's playground, while the dog squad was called in to try to track the shooter or shooters.
