A man has been arrested three hours after the discovery of an elderly man’s body in the stairwell of a train station carpark in Wollongong .New South Wales Police were called to Station Street in Wollongong at about 7.20 am on Sunday, where they located the body of a 68-year-old local man.A post-mortem examination will be conducted in the coming days to determine the man’s cause of death and to confirm his identity.

A crime scene was established at the station as detectives launched an investigation alongside officers attached to the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad. The Daily Telegraph reported the body was found on level 1 of the west side of the station carpark, an area where people sleeping rough are known to shelter.Anyone with information or who was in the area at the time is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
