Malaysia has been offered support to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games after the Victorian government pulled out. The offer includes significant financial investment to support the local delivery and legacy planning. President of Commonwealth Games Association of Malaysia, Tan Sri Dato' Sri (Dr). Mohamad Norza Zakaria, said the country was well equipped to host the games.

Malaysia has emerged as the likely host for the 2026 Commonwealth Games after the Victorian government pulled out of hosting the event across five regional areas. This week, a statement on the Olympic Council of Malaysia 's website said the nation had been offered support to step in as hosts in place of regional Victoria. The offer included significant financial investment of £100 million (AU$193 million) to support the local delivery and legacy planning.

He said the government should consider the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as Malaysia had existing world-class facilities to host athletes from 74 nations
