Sources said MA Financial invested in Splend in a recently closed round, which saw Clean Energy Finance Corporation cut a $20 million cheque.

Splenda founder Chris King runs the business alongside CFO Tom Cribb.y it set up for Splend in October. At the time, the company was aiming for 10,000 EVs across its Australian and UK businesses by 2024.

The latest round brings Splend’s capital backing to more than $200 million. Of note, its capital markets trips have also provided plenty of work for law firms. AllenOvery, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Hamilton Locke and Eversheds Sutherland were on the tools in the latest round. Splend was founded in 2015 by AFR Rich Lister Chris King and offers car rental and finance packages to rideshare drivers, including Uber. It has operations in 10 cities across Australia and the UK and about 100 employees. King hired ex-Citi managing director Tom Cribb as chief financial officer in 2021.
