NSW coach Michael Maguire is considering naming Zac Lomax and Joseph Suaalii in an extended Blues squad as part of his major State of Origin overhaul.
The Blues can announce up to 20 players as part of an extended squad, and Maguire will consider using training sessions to finalise the make-up of his back line with Lomax, Suaalii and Cronulla’s Jesse Ramien vying for two spots. “If I was standing on the other side, I know who I’d like to go up against, and it’s not Latrell,” Hornby said. “He’s always been a big-game player, I can’t see why he wouldn’t be in the picture. He wouldn’t let anyone down, that’s for sure.”
“You just never know what could happen this weekend. I’ve got a pretty open mind about where we’re at. I’m very lucky I’ve got great players in good form.”Maguire will be at PointsBet Stadium for the top four showdown between the Sharks and Panthers on Saturday night, casting an eye over Ramien, potential halves pairing Nicho Hynes and Jarome Luai as well as Penrith fullback Dylan Edwards, who is trying to usurp NSW captain James Tedesco at fullback.
