While there were a lot of winners out of this year's budget, critics say it 'lacks vision' for a greener Australia. Follow live.

Union says the budget looks good for the aged care sector... until you look closer

The union representing 15,000 aged care workers told Social Affairs correspondent Norman Hermant the budget’s aged care spending wasn’t enough and it wasn’t transparent. But she believes servicing those packages will be a challenge without money to increase home care wages.“We question how the government will find the estimated 13,000 workers that are needed when wages are so low and the work so insecure.”$3.2 billion go to aged care providers in a new $10 per resident Basic Daily Fee supplement.

$3.9 billion in the budget over four years to increase the minutes of care per day for aged care residentsBut Federal Secretary Annie Butler said delivering 200 minutes of care per day per resident by October 2023 wasShe said she’s concerned there’s no mandate to increase that target. The Royal Commission recommended residents receive 215 minutes per day of care by 2024.

There was also no funding to ensure there would be a nurse at aged care residences 24 hours a day which was also recommended by the Royal Commission. Ms Butler believes the $3,700 retention bonus announced in the budget would not be enough to keep registered nurses working in aged care.Reporting by social affairs correspondent Norman Hermant

Climate Change is a Hoax 😆 The CCP is the World’s Biggest Problem 🦠🦠🦠

There is a growing tidal wave of dissenting scientists the world over that are challenging the false rhetoric of alarmist climate change nut jobs in the WEF that want to use climate change as a lever to control the world.

So yeah.. that means we all lose.

Renewables rely on mining. Anything that help mining by extension helps renewables - even the fuel excise rebate. Renewables will unleash the biggest growth in mining in world history, great time to be a quarry!

The Climate Council is a lobby group for industries selling renewable products. Not independent nor credible. Listen to real scientists.

Hey climate council Fuck off hahaha

This is the hallmark of the Liberal Party Environmentally blind , unscientifically pollution happy A toxic govt best at pork barelling for votes as prelude to the famous razor gang later, if they ever win A party funded by miners who in turn prosper thru China buying.Irony!

Typical ABC. Find a story, any story to bag the government.

dannielle_m 'International migration down'. That makes Australia MORE sustainable. A return to 235K by 2024/25 will bump against physical limits of fuel & power supplies, CO2 emission targets, land supply, construction capacities. Not the mention that house prices will increase

Lucky we’re not part of the environment then.......

Every interest group believes they need more, before giving more I would like to see how they spend what they get.

441million population in the ACT?

You pay for it, you parasites.

And if wants the facts let me know, we'll talk

And they have no idea of the technical side, as an Engineer I have tried to push real solutions but no one cares, it's all just PC stuff

The less toxic 'renewables' the better for the environment 👍

THE Big Con to STOP us using Coal, BUT You need COAL to make Solar Panels Cost of renewables look at your power bill, About 1/3 of your bill is for renewables

Perhaps a witty and hurtful quip in parliament will lay any climate action to rest.
