MORNING BRIEFING: Wet weather is forecast for much of New South Wales today as Cyclone Uesi continues to approach, while NSW Police are working to meet and exceed quotas for frisk and strip searches.

A Freedom of Information request has revealed NSW Police are working to meet quotas for frisk and strip searches as well as move-on orders.

NSW Police are conducting almost a quarter of a million searches each year and issuing more than 100,000 move-on orders, and police in south-western Sydney are exceeding their targets by 58,000 and 19,000 respectively."The data shows a police force that is routinely using its discretionary powers to stop, humiliate and target people across the state in order to meet quotas, not to deal with the facts on the ground," Greens MP David Shoebridge said.

The Environment Protection Authority said a waste provider was offering free sheds in exchange for dumping soil underneath them, but the soil contained demolition waste and traces of asbestos.Greg Sheehy from the EPA said the investigation into the company was continuing and that if an offer sounded too good to be true, it probably was.
