French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova has shown off her fighting qualities against Anett Kontaveit with an epic semifinal comeback at the Sydney Tennis Classic.

Ranked fourth in the world to Kontaveit's seventh, the Czech star prevailed 0-6, 6-4, 7-6 as both women refused to wilt on a steamy afternoon. "An incredible match, such a wonderful showcase of women's tennis," Nine's Casey Dellacqua said after Krejcikova staved off an incredible seven match points."I just tried to fight more, stay in the match and at some point I'd get my chances. It's important to convert them," Krejcikova said.

"Anett was playing very aggressive - I had to find a plan B and it was a wonderful match. I feel great.""I know it's only the second week of the year but match of the year - I think it was. I'm exhausted!"
