James Merlino thanks 'my great friend, Dan Andrews'
Victoria's Deputy Premier has released a statement following his resignation. Here's what he had to say about his decision, and about Premier Daniel Andrews.Deputy Premier of Victoria, Minister for Education and Minister for Mental Health.A 20-year journey is coming to an end. It has been an honour and a privilege to serve in the Victorian Parliament and represent my community of Monbulk.Firstly, to my great friend, Dan Andrews.
– his empathy listening to parents of children with a disability and promising to do better for their kids, the easy banter with nurses and health workers he clearly cares so deeply about, his comforting of people in times of grief and hardship, his sorrow at the death of a friend, his love for Cath and gentle teasing with his kids at home.
It's in those moments I'm reminded why I've been proud to serve as his Deputy for the last 10 and a half years. And why I'll be working so hard to see the re-election of the Andrews Labor Government later in the year.
Prefer to hear four cabinet ministers forever grateful Andrews resigns to give Labor a chance for re-election in Victoria ?

He’s ‘forever grateful’ that they haven’t gone to the Police with what they know about this crooked state government because they are just as vulnerable as Andrews. Hence the phoney tribute speeches written for all involved the by ALP PR team.
4 ministers removed in a day. 4 railway crossings removed in 4 years.
With what they had to put up with over covid times, I don't blame them. Death threats and abuse, not acceptable to anyone
great press conference, and good to see Dan; and his point renewal is all about opportunity and that is how they all got to where they are is so true :)

Great timing. That gives the replacement candidates time to get endorsed and get out. Martin Foley for 1 is going to serve up to the election. That's 5 MONTHS away To me they are doing the best for everyone.
Hopefully the new education minister will actually address the teacher workload and shortage crisis. The AEUVictoria and JamesmerlinoMP don't seem to be vocal about it.

mmm.... see the difference a real leader acts when valued colleagues decide to leave parliament... not under intrigue or suspicion... just for a change in lifestyle...
