Homeowners in Canberra have swapped ideas on how to get around rules from sabotaging trees planted on their nature strips.

The handful of Canberra locals this week expressed their displeasure after a series of unwanted trees appeared in residential areas.

While the planting was done on council-owned nature strips, many residents complained the plants infringed on areas of land they had always considered their own. Locals who choose to follow through on plans to get rid of the trees might find themselves in hot water however, given they can only be removed with approval of the state government.

Brooke’s online article refers multiple times to “local council” / “council workers”, & several times to “state” & “state government”. The ACT is a territory, it has no local councils. She does get it right once, at the end of her article, referring correctly to “city services”.

Another example of sloppy journalism…. highlighting the modern lack of sub editors. Acceptable perhaps from lay commentators, but falling below the standards expected from alleged professionals. Brooke’s online article refers to non existent entities

The halfwits don't realise trees are vital to the well being of the planet and add value to their street.
